Example 3: As a college student, I have lots of leisure time, so how to deal with the spare time is of vital importance(至关重要). As far as I’m concerned, my leisure time falls into three parts.
Firstly, it is the break of classes. I usually utilize(利用)this precious time to preview and review my courses and the assignments. From time to time, I might read some novels or listen to some music.
Secondly, it is the hanging-out time at evenings. There are so many interesting things for me to do. However, playing basketball is my favourite. I often spare two or three nights to play basketball with my friends or classmates, even competing with professional ones. Sports are good to human beings, which makes me much stronger and healthier. In addition, it is beneficial for my progress. Occasionally, I would hang out(闲逛)with my pals(伙伴), or simply surf the Internet in the dorm. Of course, I will make use of the time to deal with my study if I have much homework to do or an examination to attend.
The third part goes to the weekends, which offer us long time to study. Actually I’m so tired to go out after a long week learning, thus I really do not know how to kill the time(消磨时间). Time permitting(允许), I might go out to do some shopping or linger(徘徊)on the streets, while in most cases I just stay on campus and work on my program.
All in all, as a student, study should be a top priority.
Brief Comment(简评):Example 3作为在校大学生,其业余生活丰富多彩。上网、打球、看小说、听音乐、逛街甚至偶尔的无所事事,一切都显得十分真实。Firstly, Secondly, In addition, Actually, All in all的表达体现了一定的层次性,也使考官极易跟随其思路。虽然言语中流露出几分迷惘,但学习对于一名学生来说是何等重要的观点却得以反复强调,可谓主次分明。
Example 4: I usually spend my leisure time reading books. A little odd though it may seem, books on politics and economics really interest me a lot. Well, I have to admit that this special hobby makes me a little strange among my fellows. You know, what they enjoy most are sports, music and popular novels, or anything rather than political and economic books. Actually, for most youths politics and economics are nothing more than “intricate, tiring and useless”.
However, as far as I am concerned, books are filled with the fiercest and most fantastic(美妙的)collisions of different culture, different races and different philosophy just like a drama, a drama of nations and mankind. The drama never lacks of great souls, and for so many times, I completely lose myself in(沉浸于)the sparks(火花) shining from the collisions(碰撞)of these souls. When reading these books, I often imagine I was among the decision makers, trying to figure out how the elites(精英) of times reached and adopted all those strategies, though they were not always proved to be reasonable and effective later. It resembles(相似)a wonderful adventure, especially when you find your teammate may be George Washington, Napoleon Bonaparte, Henry Ford or Winston Churchill. It is a bit funny, right?
Of course, before you enjoy the adventure, you have to get to know enough about the basic principles of politics and economics, just as you must familiarize(使熟悉)yourself with rules end regulations(规章制度)in advance of playing a basketball game. After all, most of the decisions that nation leaders or your future bosses make will be based on these principles.
